The overriding threefold motif of Texaco logos has emphasized the colour red, the shape of a five-pointed star, and the letter T. Texaco is short for "The Texas Company".

In 1982, the Texaco trademark changed to a white star with a red capital "T" inside a red circle. It was first phased in on Texaco credit cards in July 1982 and began appearing on newly-built Texaco stations by September. On February 8, 2002, Texaco merged with Chevron.
