In 2018, Dom Hoffman has announced that a sequel to Vine, then titled V2, would be in the works.
Byte (second era)[]
2019–2020[]
In 2019, Dom Hoffman announces that V2 would be renamed Byte.
2020–2021[]
In 2020, Byte was finally launched to the public.
Clash[]
2021–present[]
On January 26, 2021, it was announced that Clash, another short-form video app, would be acquiring Byte. The deal was finalized the following month. Clash has announced that the “byte” name will be retired in favor of “Clash”.
