On 11 October 2015 Star India launched Star Gold 4K as a one-off service, in conjuction with three Indian DTH operators, to promote the world television premiere of the Hindi film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Plans to revive the service for other world television premieres of the channel have been abandoned.
