As of result, a new station called WJXX (channel 25) was created to allow Jacksonville viewers to watch ABC, and WJKS became an affiliate of The WB on April 1, 1997, changing its call letters to WJWB in the process.

2006–2018[]
WJWB became an affiliate of The CW in 2006, changing its call letters to WCWJ. In October 2007, Media General sold WCWJ to the Nexstar Broadcasting Group; then sold to the Graham Media Group alongside WSLS-TV (channel 10) in Roanoke more than a decade later; as part of the station divestitures required as a result of Nexstar's pending acquisition of Media General.
