In 1978, Televisa filed a US trademark patent of "Univision" for the satellite network that provides select programs, and live events from Televisa and SIN to Spanish speaking countries. Later in 1987, Emilio Nicolás, Sr. sold SIN to the parentship of Hallmark Cards and Televisa, changing the name of the American Spanish-language television network into "Univision".
Used in a children's competition special called "America, Esta es tu Cancion" ("America, This is Your Song") from 1982.
