XHTVM-TDT (Canal 40), currently known as ADN 40 (Azteca, Deportes y Noticias) is a Mexico City-based television channel, which first started broadcasting on June 19, 1995 by Televisora del Valle de México as a news channel. The channel was owned by CNI (Corporación de Noticias e Información) twice from 1995-2002 and 2003-2005, & is currently owned by TV Azteca.

Azteca Cuarenta (first era)[]

1998–2000[]

XHTVM Azteca Cuarenta (1998)

On July 29, 1998, CNI started partnering with TV Azteca, resulting in the channel being renamed to Azteca Cuarenta.

On July 16, 2000, CNI severed ties with TV Azteca to become an independent TV station, starting a six-year conflict known as el Chiquihuitazo.

On December 27, 2002, TV Azteca was given the XHTVM license; this lasted for less than a month, making it one of the shortest broadcasting periods in Mexican television.

On January 24, 2003, the channel changed hands back to CNI for the second time, and continued broadcasting for 28 months.

XHTVM Canal 40 (2005)

On May 19, 2005, this logo was shown on HD broadcasts, but remained unofficial due to the channel's shutdown until February 2006; the reason was due to political criticism.

On February 21, 2006, TV Azteca began transmiting the under the name of Proyecto 40, turning it into a national network.
