Flappy Bird was created and developed by Dong Nguyen and published by .Gears. The game was removed from both the App Store and Google Play by Dong on February 10, 2014, 22 hours after he announced the app's closure on his Twitter account on February 8, 2014.[1]
On January 12, 2024, the trademark for Flappy Bird was terminated after Dong Nguyen had failed to reclaim it. The trademark was then picked up by Gametech Holdings, who plans to release a new Flappy Bird game in October 2024.
