2005-2008

Fly FM began operations on 3 October 2005; its official launch happened on 9 October 2005, making it the first radio station under Media Prima Radio Networks (later Ripple Media; now Media Prima Audio). The logo consisted of a wing with the radio station's initials (two letter F's), which strongly correlated to the radio station's name.

Originally, it was broadcast live from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and was thus the first radio station in the world to be based in an airport.

On 2 August 2021, Fly FM was officially rebranded into a hot adult contemporary radio station as part of Media Prima's radio rebranding exercise at the same time. Before this rebrand, Fly FM was a contemporary radio station. Its URL address, www.flyfm.com.my, was renamed to www.flyfm.audio. The logo was completely changed by dropping the wings for the first time in 16 years.

Between 28 March 2022 and 22 September 2023, Fly FM, as well as its sister stations, was temporarily taken off the air from the MYTV platform. Beginning 15 November 2024, Fly FM has been broadcast simultaneously on 8TV every Monday to Sunday at 12:00 am to 7:00 am.

Fly FM officially moved to Balai Berita Bangsar on 23 December 2024 with new equipment, following Media Prima's television news division's move to the building earlier in October.
