Footaction USA originally started out as a division under Melville Corporation. In 1996, Melville spun off its footwear-type stores, including Footaction and Thom McAn, into Footstar. As the company filed for bankruptcy in 2004, Footaction was sold to Foot Locker, Inc., and currently owns the brand to this day.
