For the 1976 season, Canadian businessman Walter Wolf bought 60% of Frank Williams Racing Cars, rebranding it as Wolf-Williams Racing. At season's end, Wolf removed Frank Williams and took over the remaining 40% of the team, becoming Walter Wolf Racing, with Williams setting up Williams Grand Prix Engineering in 1977.
