In 1991, French Connection started using the name "FCUK," an initialism of "French Connection United Kingdom." This initialism was first used on faxes sent between Hong Kong and London French Connection offices, headed "FCHK to FCUK." Higher-ups at French Connection saw the marketing potential of the initialism and a campaign was launched around it soon after. No logo was used for the initialism until 1997, when one was introduced and it split into its own brand under French Connection.
