In May 2000, Barnes & Noble purchased FuncoLand's parent company Funco, Inc. after a bidding war with competitor EB Games and repositioned the recently-acquired Babbage's Etc. chains as subsidiaries of Funco. Later that year, FuncoLand, alongside Software Etc. and Babbage's, were folded into the GameStop chain. The FuncoLand name was still used on a few storefronts until 2005.
