In 2004, G4 merged with technology-oriented station TechTV to form "G4TechTV", after Comcast bought the latter in a bid to expand G4's national distribution. The channel reverted to just "G4" by February 2005.

G4 (second era)

2005–2014

G4

G4 launched a new logo in May 2005. By 2007, most of the channel's original gaming-focused programming was replaced by syndicated series such as Cops, Cheaters, and Lost in an attempt to compete with male-oriented station Spike TV (now known as the Paramount Network).

After slowly winding down operations, being removed from major providers, losing the rights to its syndicated series, and ceasing production of its remaining original programming, G4 shut down all operations on December 31, 2014. The network was originally set to rebrand as Esquire Network in September 2013, but fellow NBCUniversal network Style was rebranded instead.

The channel's Canadian counterpart followed suit on August 31, 2017, outlasting both G4 and Esquire, the latter of which shut down three months prior.

2020–2022

G4 (2020)

On July 24, 2020, during Comic-Con @Home, the Twitter accounts of G4TV, Attack of the Show! and X-Play were reactivated to post a teaser video of a G4 revival in some form.

After a series of livestreaming events and specials, the network officially relaunched on November 16, 2021 as a digital and linear television network, now operated by Comcast Spectacor rather than NBCUniversal.

It used a refined version of the 2005 logo introduced via social media on November 24, 2020. The letterforms were redrawn with slightly thicker and smoother strokes.

On October 16, 2022, Comcast Spectacor announced that G4 would soon cease operations again. The network went off the air on November 18, 2022, two days after the revival's first anniversary.
