On April 9, 2024, HSBC holdings plc announced it would sell its Argentina operations to Grupo Financiero Galicia. The acquisition was completed December 6, 2024. Starting the next day, all of the bank's branches and operations adopted the transitional Galicia Más brand.
The entirety of the bank's assets are expected to be merged into Banco Galicia sometime during the course of 2025.
