Gaumont Multimédia was originally a video game and animation studio division of Gaumont, founded in 1995 by Marc du Pontavice. He left the company in 1999 to found Xilam with his wife Alix. Xilam would then purchase the company and its assets from Gaumont in 2000, with the possible exception of their video games. Gaumont would continue to distribute Xilam's properties until 2003. Meanwhile, Gaumont Multimédia would continue on as a video game company until its closure in 2004.
