2012–2020[]
Following the fatal 2015 crash of Germanwings flight 4U9525, the Germanwings brand was progressively retired in favor of the Eurowings brand. This was completed in 2017, and the 4U flight code was retired in favor of the EW code. In 2020, the brand was discontinued entirely as the COVID-19 outbreak weighed down on much of the aviation industry.
