Google+ launched on June 28, 2011.
In September 2015, Google and its other websites got their logos changed, including Google+. However, Google announced on October 8, 2018, that it was originally going to shut down its social network Google+ for consumers in August 2019 due to leakage of personal user data. However, the shutdown got moved forward to April 2 since it was announced on December 2018 that they would sunset all Google+ APIs in the next 90 days, and soon begin deleting site content in the subsequent months thereafter. Account creation on the site was shut down on February 4.
A few months after the Google+ shutdown, the company soft-launched an experimental social networking app called Shoelace oriented toward organizing local activities and events.
