Jotspot was founded in 2004 as a collaborative wiki-making service. It was acquired by Google in 2006 and would serve as the basis for the Google Sites Technology.

Google Apps changed its logo on May 2010, so Google Sites along with other apps got its new logo. Despite Google's logo change in 2013, the old 2010 Google remained in use until 2016, a year after Google changed the logo's font and the design.
