2016–present[]
In April 2016, Google Play Movies and TV received a new icon to make it resemble the Play button. The brand was still being used in regions outside of the US until 2020. On older versions of Android, this logo is still in use.
Along with the launch of the Google TV UI (based on Android TV) for smart TVs, it was announced Google Play Movies & TV would also be rebranded as Google TV. On September 26, 2021, Google TV was also launched in the UK, followed by more European countries in October.
