Sometime before the release, the film was renamed Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story, likely for marketing reasons. However, the previous logo without the subtitle continued to be used in some promotional materials during and after the film's theatrical run.
The film was originally slated to release on August 11, 2023 but was delayed to August 25, 2023, following the SAG-AFTRA strike.
