Though first seen on their website in January 1997, it would only first be used in print on February 9, 1997. The change was only officially announced to the media on February 13.

In 2018, it was announced that Gulf Power was to be purchased from Southern Company by Florida Power & Light; this transaction was finalized in January 2019. After which Gulf Power adopted FPL's standard logo. Effective January 1, 2022, Gulf Power was to be fully absorbed by FPL as their northwest Florida division, spelling an end to the nearly century-old company.
