HAL Laboratory, Inc. was founded in 1980 by Mitsuhiro Ikeda and it was first seen in Mr. Chin.

By 2020, HAL Laboratory reused their first logo for the Pasocom Mini (launched that year in Japan).

Launched in 1998 and first used when Super Smash Bros. was released on January 21, 1999 in Japan. Designed by Shigesato Itoi and realized by Gugi Akiyama, the logo features a dog called Inutamago, from Inu (dog) and Tamago (egg), who is also the studio's mascot.[1]
