HBO Netherlands was launched on February 6, 2012, owned by joint venture of Liberty Global through UPC Netherlands (now Ziggo) and WarnerMedia (formerly Time Warner).

HBO Netherlands was closed on December 31, 2016. Ziggo then acquired the broadcasting licenses of HBO content for the Dutch market.
