HIT Movies was formed in March 2009 to produce theatrical film adaptations of HIT Entertainment's franchises, the first being a live-action adaptation of Thomas & Friends, titled The Adventures of Thomas, which was planned to be released in 2012. HIT Movies and all their film productions were later closed and cancelled after HIT Entertainment was purchased by Mattel. Other film adaptations of its properties in production were Barney, Bob the Builder, and Angelina Ballerina.
