Pre-launch[]
The Kent ILR licence was originally two separate licences for the Eastern and Western parts of the county. The East Kent licence was awarded by the IBA to NETWORK EAST KENT whilst the Maidstone & Medway licence was awarded to NORTHDOWN RADIO.
Both licences were struggling to to attract finances so the IBA allowed both companies to merge forming INVICTA SOUND which launched on October 1st 1984.
