The History Channel debuted on January 1, 1995. On November 3, 2004, a new set of idents created by Lambie-Nairn were unveiled, to help modernise the channel's image branding and to reflect its shift in programming to focus on contemporary history, current events and technology. The idents feature simple imagery and footage, and had the slogan "Know the story".
On February 16, 2008, a new logo was unveiled dropping "The" and "Channel", simply becoming History.
