In 1996, The Coca-Cola Company and Cisneros formed a joint-venture known as Embotelladoras Coca-Cola y Hit de Venezuela, which led to Hit and other brands joining Coca-Cola's portfolio. In 1997, Panamco acquired the venture which led to Coca-Cola discontinuing production of its Fanta brand in that region.
