This version of the logo was used for signs in some locations.
Home Quarters Warehouse, or HQ, was founded in 1984 as a division of W. R. Grace and Company. Grace spun HQ off in 1986, and the chain was acquired by Hechinger in December 1987. Due to dire finances, Hechinger's longtime owners sold Hechinger/HQ to an investment firm in July 1997. This firm would merge HQ with Builders Square in September.
