Home Retail Group was founded after GUS plc acquired Argos in 1998 and formed Argos Retail Group, which then purchased Homebase in 2002. ARG was then renamed to Home Retail Group after demerging from GUS in 2006. In 2011, HRG purchased Habitat and then sold Homebase in 2016 to Wesfarmers .
2006-2016[]
HRG was purchased by Sainsbury's shortly after the Homebase sale. Argos and Habitat were then brought under a new division called Sainsbury's Argos, causing the end of Home Retail Group.
