In 1963, Honda decided to adopt the wing logo from their motorcycles division as their corporate symbol. The symbol was seen on not just motorcycles, but also on manuals, stock certificates, and other items.

In 1988, the wing symbol was retired and the standalone wordmark became the corporate logo. The wing was redesigned that year for their 40th anniversary; this was relegated towards motorcycles/powersports.

This wordmark saw the launch of the seventh generation Honda Civic in September 2000 and ASIMO robot on October 21, 2000. It became the official logo since December 21, 2000 along with the slogan "The Power of Dreams".
