Hyatt House was the original name of the hotel chain and was Hyatt's flagship brand of upscale properties until 1971. In 2012, the Hyatt House brand was revived for extended-stay properties.

This logo, nicknamed the “bug” by employees, was first used solely for the Hyatt Regency O’Hare when it opened in 1971. In 1976 it became the trademark of the entire company.
