Prior to Mac OS X Leopard, the icon's camera was of the disposable variety.
2007–2013[]
In Mac OS X Leopard, it became a digital SLR camera. On March 7, 2012, an iOS version of iPhoto was released alongside the third-generation iPad.
2013–2015[]
The macOS icon was introduced at the October Event 2013 alongside OS X Mavericks. In OS X 10.10.3, iPhoto was replaced by Photos. The iOS icon was first used in iOS 7. The app was discontinued in 2014 and removed from the App Store in favor of the Photos app in iOS 8.
