ITC was founded in July 1958 by Lew Grade, head of Associated Television Ltd. and Incorporated Television Programme Co., along with the Jack Wrather Organization and Carl M. Loeb, Rhoads & Co.
It was acquired by PolyGram Filmed Entertainment in 1995, who absorbed the syndication arm of the company into PolyGram Television. In 1998, PolyGram was acquired by Universal Pictures, with its library assets being sold to Carlton Communications in 1999.
