Indian Airlines was one of two state-owned flag carriers of India, with the other being Air India, with which it merged in 2007. Indian Airlines flew short-haul routes domestically within the Indian subcontinent as well as to the Middle East and Southeast Asia; Air India flew long-haul routes, and, starting from 2007, short-haul routes.
Indian Airlines rebranded on 7 December 2005 with a new logo and livery. However, the Indian wordmark in Hindi and English was retained.
Indian Airlines merged with Air India in 2007, and the latter introduced a new livery. Operations under the Indian (Airlines) brand and the ‘IC’ flight code were terminated on 26 February 2011.
