Intel Pentium is a 5th generation of x86 processors, replacing the Intel i486 line.
1993–2000[]
The processor was originally named as Intel i586 but it was difficult to trademark a series of numbers in a branding. As a result, Intel decided to hire a marketing firm Lexicon Branding to name the new processor, now branded as Pentium. The processor was introduced on March 22nd, 1993, but didn't have a sole logo until 1994. In 1998, Intel stopped producing/shipping the original Pentium processor of the P5, P54C, and P54CQS models and was replaced by the Intel Pentium II. On August 17, 1999, Intel stopped accepting orders for the Pentium of the P54CS model and shipments for this model ended on February 15, 2000.[1]
