In 2002, Intel began to install the Pentium 4 processor M in mobile laptops. It was successful for only eleven months from when it was launched, until it was outshined in March 2003 by the introduction of the Centrino platform, as well as the Pentium M processor.

In December 2005, Intel stopped producing the Pentium 4 Mobile processor.
