Intel began production of the Pentium III processor in 1999; however, the Pentium 4 processor was released just a year later. It is an enhanced and faster version of Pentium II.
In 2003, Intel stopped producing/shipping the Pentium III processor in favor of the Pentium M processor, which is part of a Centrino platform.
