2001–2003[]
On July 30, 2001, Intel began to install these processors in mobile laptops, in order to compete with AMD Athlon XP-M and Transmeta Crusoe.
In 2002, Intel stopped producing the Pentium III Mobile processor and was replaced by the Pentium 4 M. In 2003, Intel released the Pentium M, which is a part of the Centrino platform.
