After Russia began a war with Ukraine in 2014, Russian companies in the country faced boycott and protests, so after several years Ukrainian Sberbank decided to remove any references to its Russian origin.

In 2021 Oschadbank won a court case to claim its ownership of Sberbank trademark, registered back in 2007, so Ukrainian branch of Sberbank had to alter its identity in December 2021. Soon after that Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and IR Bank announced its liquidation process, that would last until 2025.
