Internet Explorer logo 2007

Microsoft Internet Explorer was rebranded as Windows Internet Explorer during the release of Windows Vista. The icon has been overhauled to have a gold orbit instead of a blue one. This logo was used for IE7 and IE8. It was rebranded as Windows Internet Explorer due to the launch of Windows Live. As of today, IE 8 remains as the most popular browser along with IE 11.

2011–present: Windows Internet Explorer 9 – Internet Explorer 11

IE9

While the same elements are used, the IE9 logo is noticeably different from the IE8 logo. This logo is used as the IE10 and IE11 Desktop mode icon.[1][2] This is used as a primary logo on Windows 7/10. This is used as a secondary logo on Windows 8.x.

2012–present: Internet Explorer 10 – Internet Explorer 11

This logo is used for the Metro/Modern UI style version of Internet Explorer 10 and 11 on Windows 8.x and Windows RT. Also used on Windows Phone since Internet Explorer 9. Notice that this logo also looks a lot like the 1997 logo, which used to be flat 2D. This is used as a primary logo on Windows 8.x. This is used as a secondary logo on Windows 7/10. You can find this logo on Windows 7/8.x/10 by opening Internet Explorer, clicking the settings icon, and clicking "About Internet Explorer".

In Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10049, The default browser was changed to IE's successor browser called Microsoft Edge.
