Travel Channel was launched in October 1996 by Landmark Communications, as the Latin American feed of Travel Channel. A Brazilian feed with Portuguese audio was launched on January 1997.

People+Arts was launched on October 6, 1997 alongside Animal Planet as People & Arts Network, a joint-venture between Discovery Communications and the BBC (via its commercial division at the time, BBC Worldwide).

People and Arts 1998

In October 1997, Discovery Latin America acquired Travel Channel as result of the acquisition of the parent network in the United States.

Both People & Arts Network and Travel Channel were merged, resulting on El nuevo/O novo Travel Channel: People+Arts, with the former absorbing the later in both distribution and programming. The tagline was later removed, and People+Arts (pronounced People and Arts) was kept.
