Reliance Jio, known simply as Jio, is an Indian mobile network operator that operates exclusively using the 4G LTE standard. It is owned by Reliance Industries Limited and was launched on 5 September 2016.

Jio’s revolutionary pricing and plans have made it the largest Indian telecom company and also the third-largest mobile network operator in the world by subscribers,[1] and have triggered heavy consolidation in the Indian telecommunications sector. (In 2018, Vodafone merged with Idea; Aircel ceased operations; and two smaller networks, Telenor and Tata Docomo, were acquired by Bharti Airtel.)
