Reliance Jio , known simply as Jio , is an Indian mobile network operator that operates exclusively using the 4G LTE standard. It is owned by Reliance Industries Limited and was launched on 5 September 2016.
Jio’s revolutionary pricing and plans have made it the largest Indian telecom company and also the third-largest mobile network operator in the world by subscribers,[1] and have triggered heavy consolidation in the Indian telecommunications sector. (In 2018, Vodafone merged with Idea ; Aircel ceased operations; and two smaller networks, Telenor and Tata Docomo , were acquired by Bharti Airtel .)
