Reliance Jio, known simply as Jio, is an Indian mobile network operator that operates exclusively using the 4G LTE standard. It is owned by Reliance Industries Limited and was launched on 5 September 2016.
Jio’s revolutionary offers and plans have made it the largest Indian telecom company and the third-largest mobile network operator in the world by subscribers,[1] and have triggered heavy consolidation in the Indian telecom industry. Its competitors are Vi (formerly Vodafone and Idea), Airtel and the state-owned BSNL and MTNL.
