Joyn is a video-on-demand service in Germany jointly run by ProSiebenSat.1, and Discovery, Inc.. It is designed to be a German competitor to the likes of subscription-driven streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, much like Hulu in the United States and Salto in France. It was launched in 2017 as 7TV (named after the number 7 used by ProSieben), and renamed to Joyn on 18 June 2019.
Other German broadcasters such as public broadcaster ZDF, Sport1, and Welt are soon to be a part of the platform. Also, the existing subscription services within the joint-venture such as Eurosport Player and Maxdome will be integrated into the platform in the subsequent months.
