In 1982, both stations became affiliates of CBS due to the signal weakness of future sister station WCCO-TV (channel 4) in Minneapolis—St. Paul, Minnesota.

KCCO-TV/KCCW-TV[]

1987–2000[]

The station adapted its current callsigns in 1987 after Midwest Radio and Television (owner of WCCO-TV) purchased both stations. In 1992, CBS purchased Midwest Radio and Television and WCCO-TV, KCCW & KCCO became CBS owned-and-operated stations.

The logos are similar to WCCO-TV's 1978–2000 logo.

2000–2003[]

In 2002, WCCO-TV ended local newscasts for KCCO-TV and KCCW-TV and as a result, channels 7 and 12 became full relays of channel 4.

On December 30, 2017, CBS shuttered KCCO-TV and as a result, WCCO-TV was added to transmitters owned by Selective TV within Alexandria.
