KECC-TV[]

The station was launched on December 11, 1968 as KECC-TV and was an ABC affiliate. The station was originally owned by United Broadcasting. In 1970, the station switched to CBS.
1974–1981[]
In 1977, the station reached an agreement with Acton Corp. pending resolution of the KECC license. However in 1981, the station was sold to Esquire's Pacific Media Corporation division.
KECY-TV[]

In 1981, the station was rebranded to KECY-TV and switched back to ABC. In 1983, Esquire sold off its broadcast properties including KECY to Cimmaron Broadcasting. However, they were not able to complete the deal and Esquire sold Pacific Media to former station chairman John Smart. In 1985, KECY switched back to CBS which led to cable providers in that area piping either KGTV (channel 10) from San Diego or KTVK (channel 3, now an Independent station) from Phoenix for ABC programming.

In 1989, KECY, along with Pacific Media Corporation was finally sold to Katherine R. and Robinson O. Everett in February of that same year. In 1990, KECY signed on a low-power transmitter in Palm Springs known as K40DB (then on channel 40, branded as "KDBA-TV" and now on channel 33 as a Fox affiliate known as KDFX-CD) bringing CBS programming to the Palm Springs area where previously, cable providers would recieve network-owned KCBS-TV (channel 2) from Los Angeles.

In April 1994, KECY announced that it would switch to Fox. The switch occured in September of that same year, which sent CBS to KSWT (channel 13, now on channel 11 as KYMA-DT). KECY's sister stations WJKA (channel 26, currently known as WSFX-TV) in Green Bay and WFAY (channel 62, currently a Bounce O&O as WFPX-TV) also switched to that network that same year. Previously, cable providers piped either XETV (channel 6, now a Canal 5/Nu9ve relay) from San Diego and KNXV-TV (channel 15, now a ABC affiliate) from Phoenix. In 1995, KECY began affiliating with UPN on a secondary basis.
1996–2008[]
In March 1997, Pacific Media Corporation signed a local marketing agreement with Growth Cities Broadcasting which would manage KECY and its Palm Springs sister station K40DB. The following month, Growth Cities transferred the LMA/TBA to the News-Press & Gazette Company. In 2006, KECY began affiliating with MyNetworkTV on a secondary basis. In 2007, ABC programming returned to KECY, this time on a digital subchannel. In 2008, NPG bought KECY and KDFX outright.
2008–2020[]
In 2010, KECY began carrying The CW on a digital subchannel after KSWT dropped the network.
