Designer:  Unknown
Typography:  Microgramma Bold
Launched:  December 18, 1984

Channel 3 changed its call letters to the current KIDK on December 18, 1984, when the radio stations were sold due to an FCC rule in place at the time that prohibited TV and radio stations in the same market, but with different ownership from sharing the same call letters. The Microgramma Bold wordmark was introduced that year, while the 1977 logo was retained and continued to be used until 1999. Retlaw Enterprises purchased Channel 3 in 1988.

KIDK 1

Fisher Communications (after purchasing the Retlaw stations in 1999) rebranded all of their stations with this universal logo design in 2000. Sister stations at the time included KOMO-TV, KATU, KIMA-TV, KBCI-TV, KLEW-TV, KEPR-TV, and KVAL-TV.

KIDK3

On December 9, 2010, Fisher Communications announced that it had entered into a shared services arrangement with News-Press & Gazette Company–owned ABC affiliate KIFI-TV (channel 8), under which KIDK would be run out of the KIFI facility and 27 KIDK staffers would be laid off. The transaction was completed on January 1, 2011.

When Fisher announced that it would sell its stations to the Sinclair Broadcast Group on April 11, 2013, a deal was reached to sell channel 3 and KXPI-LD to St. Joseph, Missouri-based VistaWest Media; the stations would remain operated by NPG under a shared services agreement. The sale was finalized on November 29 of that year.
