On February 20, 2009 the switch from "97.1 FM Talk" of hot talk format to "97.1 AMP Radio" of Contemporary Hit Radio format, which is the rival playing as KIIS-FM at the same time. On June 30, 2009 the call letters changed to KAMP, then later KAMP-FM on July 7, 2009.

On December 6, 2021, Audacy announced that KNOU will be converted into a simulcast of KNX. The station's call letters were renamed on December 21 to KNX-FM. The move also leaves KIIS-FM as the only Top-40 station in the Los Angeles Area.
