The KQED Evening Edition[]
1979–1980[]
In 1979, the program relaunched as The KQED Evening Edition. It was canceled on August 28, 1980 for a 10-year hiatus.
This Week in Northern California[]
1990–2000[]
On February 16, 1990 (after a 10-year hiatus), the program relaunched as This Week in Northern California.
2000–2006[]
On November 10, 2000, This Week in Northern California launched with new graphics and backgrounds.[2]
2006–2009[]
In fall of 2006, KQED began broadcasting the show in High Definition.
2009–2013[]
On October 9, 2009, KQED began broadcasting the rebranded This Week in Northern California with new graphics and a new set.
KQED Newsroom[]
2013–2021[]
In July 2013, KQED announced that they'll launch the program called KQED Newsroom replacing This Week in Northern California. The episode from the previous show ended on September 13, 2013, and the pilot episode of KQED Newsroom premiered on October 18, 2013. On January 20, 2017, KQED Newsroom moved the timeslot from 8:00 pm to 7:00 pm after the launch of the 24/7 PBS Kids Channel and saving the room for PBS primetime programs. KQED Newsroom concluded on April 2, 2021 for a hiatus of the KQED building renovation.
2021–2023[]
After the renovation, the show returned on September 10, 2021 at the renovated KQED building. On June 2, 2023, it was announced that KQED Newsroom will end on June 23, 2023. A two-part finale (culminating with the series finale episode) aired on June 16, 2023 and June 23, 2023 (series finale) retrospectively.
