The station would be acquired by Telemundo who owned KVEA (channel 52) in 2001.

2002–2004[]

During this logo's run, KWHY and its then-sister station KVEA alongside the rest of the Telemundo network would be purchased by NBC in 2002. This made KWHY and KVEA sister stations to NBC's West Coast flagship station, KNBC. This made the Southern California television market the first (and only) television market to hold a triopoly until 2011.
